Lakes, Funfairs, and Twister. January 19, 2008

Filed under: Eat Shit Sleep Post — ponnie @ 12:39 pm

On my first Sunday in Kampar, we decided to take a walk to UTAR all the way from our house. It took us 30 minutes to reach UTAR’s guardhouse. And then we were prohibited to enter. So I took more pictures of the lake with my cellphone’s camera.

Then last 2 weeks, we went to the funfair. It was a muddy experience, and I only sat on one ride which I swear I won’t ever ride again. Firstly, I’m afraid of heights. That particular ride took me so high up and so fast plus it looked and sounded so unstable I was reminded of Final Destination 3. But anyway, I only have 2 pictures of the ferris wheel. From the outside, it looked like it was spinning so damn fast. But when Cherremy (Cherrie + Jeremy) sat on it, they said it was slow.

Two nights ago, (Thursday night) we went to Chin Yong’s house to play Twister, with about 10 other people. Erm, hold on. Let me try to name all of them. Me, Kar May, Brian, Cherrie, Jeremy, Chin Yong, Amelia, Ming-Y, Yee Ying, Max, Lawrence, Alex, Jonathan, Chiu Yan, Wayne, and Averse. I think I got all of them. Okay, there were 16 of us. Wow. Imagine the noises we must’ve made.

Round 1 of Twister:

Victims: Brian, Amelia, Ming-Y and Jonathan.

Round 2 of Twister:

Victims: Max, Jeremy, Wayne, and Averse.

Round 3 of Twister:

Sorry, no pictures of that. :) ‘Cause I was playing lolol.

Victims: Kar May, Cherrie, Poh Nee and Chiu Yan.

Btw I’m back in Kota Kemuning now. I’m going back tomorrow afternoon, around 2pm haha. Didn’t even get to do any CNY shopping SIGH. But it’s okay, I’ll be back again on the 31st till the 10th of February, and since my dad will be on leave after the 31st we can go CNY shopping together! Muahahahaha.

Although, shopping with the dad, isn’t very good. I tend to feel rushed to look and try on clothings. Oh well.

Btw again, I cut my hair today at some QQ Cut express haircut thing. My first time trying it. And the result…well let’s just say I’m not really happy with it. I guess it looks okay, fine, but not really something I had in mind. Oh I’m dying my hair now. Mum had extras so I used it hehe.

Until next time, ciao.

It’s me, again. January 17, 2008

I’m blogging for the third time today SIGH! I’m sooo bored here, in this humid canteen, waiting for time to pass by ’cause of my stupid Mandarin tutorial which is t 5-6pm. As I just had my Pengajian Am classes just now (supposedly 3 hours, but we finished it in 1.5 hours) my waiting hours are therefore, extended. My laptop’s battery only has 27% left, I’m super oily and hot, I have no friends around, and ah yes, I still have to wait another 1 hour till my class starts. Fuck fuck fuck.

On a happier note, Saiunkoku Monogatari season 2’s episode 9 and beyond is up! Finallyyyy…I might be going back to KL this Friday, which means internet, which means me being able to watch it! Whee.

I have so many things I wanna do when I go home this weekend. Which includes CNY shopping! Muahahahahahaha.

Cute white chocolate violin on the oreo cake!

Yer…so sweet.

Cherrie getting smeared.

Jeremy getting smeared too.

Oreo-ed couple. Gawd I’m lame. Must be my classmates eccentric vibe rubbing off me.

Our spaghetti meal! During the other day when Brian left us at home to rot with no means of transportation.

My room.

The other side of my room.

My wardrobe. It’s really, really, small.

I’m outta blogging juice.

That Language Called Mandarin January 17, 2008

Filed under: Bad moods — ponnie @ 6:23 am

I absolutely detest my classmates. Well, not all of them. But majority. Let’s just say, Journalism students are a bunch of prats. Probably me included. Firstly, my disability to speak my mother tongue (which I don’t actually even consider my mother tongue) has been quite a bit of a shock (“a bit” is probably an understatement) to some of my classmates.

You see, we have 3 elective subjects to choose from. All 3 are Chinese subjects. I’m taking the most basic one, seeing as I have no basics in Mandarin or whatsoever. As the forms were being handed out, the treasurer, who was handing them out, asked me which one I am gonna take. I told her I’d be taking the basic one, as I don’t know Mandarin. She said,

“HAAAA?!?!!? You don’t know Mandarin wan ah?!?!?!”

Bloody fuck. Is it so bad that I don’t know Mandarin? Where I came from, it’s not a big deal okay? I mean, even this girl who’s a friend of my friend just knew me yesterday, she didn’t even give a reaction when she knew I don’t know Mandarin, and she’s majoring in Chinese Studies.

Another encounter with another of my classmate. Well, not exactly an encounter. I attended Kar May’s class last Friday for fun, and she also went for the class for fun. I heard her talking to a few of Kar May’s classmates, and she said loudly, “I’m Chinese of course I know Chinese lah!”

Oh jeez, I have such classmates, and I’ve to bear with them for the next three years. Please, I hope there will be better classmates next year, when students from KTAR come and do their degree here.

Of course, as much as I’d like to shout at the classmate who gave such a big reaction about me not knowing Mandarin, I didn’t. I just smiled. Typical me. I should’ve just shouted at her, seeing as I’m a good half a head taller than her, and I’ll show the rest of my new classmates what a bitch I can be. Right.

SIGH. Anyway, I had my first Chinese class yesterday. There were only 3 of us. Me, an Indian girl, and a Chinese guy. It was okay, I guess. I learned one of the most basic of basics, which is how to pronounce. Riight. Needless to say, my great housemates laughed at me when I told them. But! But!

During the Chinese lecture we had to pronounce some han yu pin yin and then, my lecturer asked me whether I had taken Mandarin classes before, ’cause she said my pronounciation was quite good! I was so tempted to toss my hair and say to her, “Naturally, darling.”

Ah, anyway, the above was supposed to be published yesterday, but I ran out of time ’cause I had classes, and my Introduction to Mass Comm lecturer has this eccentric habit of asking us to sing upfront whenever we are late.

I shall blog again soon, with pictures.

Oh yeahh I can finally use my laptop at campus! As my “friends” are so good they don’t leave me any comments sigh. So okay, fine, I’ll show you some pictures. I’ll lag your computers! Muahahahahaha.

By the lake, near the canteen.

The building in the distance is Block D, the FES (Engineering) building.

This picture. Is priceless.

There are a few big mountains here in Kampar. Trekking, anyone?

That’s Block A.

Er…Block D in the distance.

That’s Block B, the block which all of my classes are commenced.

Imitation of KFC.

Cherrie’s birthday cake.

Cherrie’s birthday cake again.

Awww so sweetttt. (Do you know how jealousy-inducing it is to see a couple in my house 24/7 -____-)

Kay that’s all for now more to come soon!

Sigh January 7, 2008

Filed under: Eat Shit Sleep Post — ponnie @ 7:15 am

Blogging from the UTAR’s computer lab this time. I used my previous year’s account, surprisingly it still works. I forgot to check out my new ID number. Anyway, just back from the PTPTN briefing today.

First day of class wasn’t too bad. We thought of taking the UTAR bus to uni today, but as we were waiting for the bus, it just whizzed past ’cause it was too full. We still had to take Brian’s car after all.

Timetables were only released today, can you believe it?! How efficient. My classes suck. No, more like, my hours sucked. I have at least one lecture everyday, so it means no rest day for this week as we only have lectures and no tutorials this week.

My class only has like, 18 of us. 15 girls, 3 guys. Very little people. I doubt it’ll be very exciting, but oh well. At least I have two of the same lectures with Kar May, so I guess things will look up.

Oh, yeah. I have a subject called Introduction to Mandarin. Oh. My. Gawd. They actually have 3 electives to choose from, Introduction to Mandarin 1, which is for those who have no basics in Mandarin, Introduction to Mandarin 2, for those who took Chinese in their UPSR, and Mandarin for Communication or something like that for those who took Chinese in their SPM. I have to learn Mandarin, omg. I don’t wanna. I can’t imagine how I’ll cope, seriously.

Yesterday Jeremy’s parents brought his bicycle down, along with other vanity things (like a full length mirror! @^%#$&^%$*^%) . I, erm, tried out his bike and nearly had an accident due to the fact that the bike was so high! My legs could hardly reach the ground my gawd.

Anyway, I’m going home soon by bus. Brian’s last class is at 5pm and I so don’t wanna stay here till then. Another good thing about living on my own, hehe.

From Kampar January 4, 2008

Filed under: Eat Shit Sleep Post — ponnie @ 7:06 am

Hello hello! I’m safe and sound here in Kampar (where there’s no internet in my house! Wtf!). I arrived yesterday at around 2pm, and I had to wait for around 4 hours or so just to pay my rental and get the house keys. There were like, so many students and parents there. Many irate people too. There’s a particular LCLY girl which caught my attention, but let’s hope she’s not in Journalism.

Around 6pm when we could finally get inside our house, we unpacked, and cleaned. Then it started raining. Heavily. And then, blackout. We thought it was a fuse, but no. The whole of Westlake was experiencing blackout. All on our first night too. What. The. Fuck.

Anyway, I followed my parents back to their room in the Kampar Grand Hotel to shower and rest, then had dinner with them. The room was really wow. Considering how this is Kampar, the hotel room was really nice. Plus! Their bathroom didn’t have a bathtub. It was floored with black tiles, and the hot shower was absolutely heaven. I don’t really like showering in bathtubs ’cause they’re really slippery, and it’s too cold to take a soak in the bathtub anyway.

After my dinner, I went back to my rented house, and there still wasn’t any electricity. Luckily my dad gave me his radio/torchlight/alarm gadget thingy otherwise my phone would’ve run out of battery. But actually, my phone was already in danger of turning off.

After wishing Cherrie a happy 19th at 12am, we all went to bed. I felt a little depressed while sleeping, mainly ’cause of the electricity. I wanted to badly to chat with Jia-Wen on the phone, but my phone was low on battery. I don’t even know when the electricity was coming back on, so who knows whether my phone can be charged. I went to sleep hugging Jia-Wen’s tshirt. <3

At 4.48am (the time on my phone) the house came back to life! I suddenly awoke ’cause the electricity was back and I left my fan and light on. I quickly charged my phone and went back to sleep.

Early this morning, I could take a nice hot shower, albeit the water pressure being on the low side. I still haven’t got used to showering in a toilet that’s not mine. It’s the same feeling when I shower in my relative’s house when I’m staying over during Chinese New Year. But anyway, thank goodness the electricity’s back-lah.

So today we had our orientation. 7 of us squeezed inside Brian’s car and we went to register and stuff. I got another UTAR tshirt (with black collar this time instead of green) and it’s humongous for an S size.

Orientation was predictably, boring. Kar May even slept, gawd. I have a picture of that. Soon to come! When I bring my laptop for configuration or something in the UTAR’s ICTC or whatever it is.

We had a lunch break, but the only stall in the big canteen was this chap fan stall, and the queue for it can beat J.Co’s. We were supposed to go for Mass Call after our lunch break (which is this super boring thing where you have to do the pledge, sing the UTAR song and Negaraku) so we decided to skip the whole thing and go out for lunch instead.

We had lunch at a pirated KFC restaurant called MyFC. My Fried Chicken. How original. -_- The food there sucks. At least now we know we’re never going back there to eat again.

So as I’ve said earlier, there wasn’t any internet in my house. I’m at a cyber cafe now! My very first time. But this CC is nice, it isn’t smoky and dinghy and I’m sitting on a plush cushioned one seater sofa and blogging. Ah, bliss. If only there was a memory card reader then I can upload pictures, because I have my camera with me and plenty of nice pictures. Hint: One of the pictures I managed to take was of a small kid pissing in UTAR.

I don’t know how to check how much time I have left on this computer…but I’m done blogging about the details for now. Btw, I still haven’t finish unpacking, due to the fact that there wasn’t any electricity yesterday. The wardrobe they provided is extremely small, plus the drawers are so narrow and splintered I have to line it with plastic bags, which I will do when I get home later. My room’s also kind of dusty, and I have some serious arrangement to do. Lack of space.

I shall go play some games now. After all, I’m in a CC.

Happy New Year! January 2, 2008

Filed under: Eat Shit Sleep Post — ponnie @ 1:06 pm

So, my 1st of Jan was shitty. But my 2nd of Jan was great. =) Went out with the “good friend” today, and although I was kinda bummed that there was no more Dome in Pyramid, at least I managed to eat my frozen yogurts. =)

Not after we did some shopping! Not for me, but for Jia-Wen. At least I managed to get my liquid eyeliner, like, finally! I haven’t tried it though. So I don’t know how well it works, or how well I work with it.

We didn’t take much pictures; most of the pictures were taken in Yogurberry. I’m sorry Jia-Wen, but the pictures are just too hilarious! I must put it up. xP

I didn’t mean to do the lala face. I was halfway eating!

I look constipated lol!

Adjusted a high brightness.

I think I look virtually eyebrow-less in all the pictures. Sigh. The price for being hairless.

I like this picture. xP

Sapu!

Yogurt slosh.

See, I look eyebrow-less again. And my dark under-eye rings are so obvious. -_-

I wasn’t supposed to look at the camera. ><

Souvenir from Langkawi from Jia-Wen. :P

Unhappy New Year January 1, 2008

I shall start the new year with a pessimistic note. Because, I’m like that.

2007 for me wasn’t a terribly great year. In fact, it was mostly dreadful, because many things happened. For example, I was accused of things I didn’t do, lost someone I love to someone else, got cheated on, had suicidal tendencies, and many more. Needless to say, it was a depressing year for me.

Nevertheless, I had some great times too. I met a bunch of friends in uni that are absolutely great. Kar May, Hang Wei, Cherrie, Apple, Brian, Jeremy, Hemin…you are all such wonderful friends. I’m happy that we met and became good friends.

Also, I probably should be happy that I did quite well for my SPM last year. Only one B3. I guess I’m lucky. And my results during this foundation course hasn’t been terribly bad, save for the second semester’s. But I guess, it’s during that second semester I had a lot of personal problems, and I felt really depressed, perhaps that’s why I didn’t strive to do better.

Anyway, about my suicidal tendencies, I had a lot of time to think about my situation…and I decided that suicide isn’t the way to solve any of my problems. I’m glad to say that since then, even through my most depressed times, I have never had anymore suicidal tendencies. I think it’s right, when people say that the only person who can help you, is you alone.

I still prefer 2006. I’m glad that 2007 is over, but then again, 2008 doesn’t look set to be a very good year.

Right now, I feel like how Blair felt when she found out Nate was cheating on her with Jennifer.
